Motherhood Moments

March 2023

I see a mama

At first glance, I see tired eyes, I see wrinkles and messy hair.

On closer look,

I see a mama soaking up the snuggles while her two year old still wants to cuddle.

I see a mama who misses nap time Monday through Friday because she’s working and opts to hold him a little longer before transferring him.

I see a mama who is thankful for a loving boy after years of trying.

And a mama who is learning to slow down in these moments.

May 2021, I Sighed..

The other night I was getting in bed with the baby and sighed without realizing. My husband looked at me and asked me why I sighed..

I sighed because between bedtime and sunrise, I have gotten up to feed you twice.
I sighed because one night you won’t need an extra feeding anymore.

I sighed because I haven’t had a moment to shower in two days.
I sighed because one day you will not need my constant attention.

I sighed because you cried every time I laid you down to sleep tonight.
I sighed because one day you will be too big for me to rock you to sleep.

I sighed because it can be consuming getting us both ready before I start work.
I sighed because one day, you won’t want to wear the clothes I pick out for you.

I sighed… because I had no idea I needed you as much as you need me.
