“Your dream is worth fighting for, and while you’re not in control of what life throws at you, you are in control of the fight.”
– Rachel Hollis
It’s the last 90 days of the year – and if you can believe it – of the decade!
Any who follows The Hollis Company (or listen to Rachel and Davis Hollis) is familiar with the Last 90 Days challenge. The idea behind this is the last 90 days of the year can be stressful. We fall to our bad habits or coping mechanisms as we are busy, seeing family and attending holiday events. Everyone deals with those stresses differently. It can be not making time to move your body, or maybe you feel all the pressure of the holidays and you find yourself thinking you ‘need’ that glass of wine when you get home or, are you just going from task to task and not pausing to realize what you are grateful for.
The Last 90 Days are meant to inspire you just as you would be inspired for January 1, 2020! You don’t have to wait for a new year to make a change in your life. Just imagine what January 1 could look like for you if you started today.
My Why:
Before starting this challenge, you need to know your why. My why: Infertility makes me feel that I have no control of my body. I cannot control the outcome with this. However, this 90 day challenge allows me to control the health of my body and I want to remind myself that I can make a change in my life.
I am a huge fan of Rachel Hollis from her books to her podcasts, she inspires me to go for what I want out of life, including being an inspiration for this blog. In her book, she focuses on Five to Thrive that they incorporate into this 90 day challenge:
Five to Thrive:
Wake up an hour earlier thank you normally do – for yourself.
Yikes, I know, but I promise you will adjust. Just make sure you are going to bed with enough time to do so. That extra hour in the morning is to be spent for you time. I have been using the time for my devotional and a quick workout.
Move your body for 30 minutes a day!
Whether that is morning yoga on YouTube or a walk on my lunch break – I’m committing to making time for this daily!
Drink half your body weight in water!
I found the larger the water bottle, the easier this is for me!
Give up one food category for 30 days
This was so hard for me to decide, I have celiac disease and am already gluten free. I also gave up alcohol and coffee all summer while I was in the middle of my IVF cycle. For these thirty days, I am giving up going out for lunch during the work week.
Write down ten things you are grateful for every single day.
It can be anything – one of yesterday’s gratitude for me was that I had warm coffee on the way to work. It doesn’t have to be a huge concept, but something simple that makes you life that much better.
My mother and I are participating this year in the challenge and I encourage you to have an accountability partner if you are taking a part in this. We walked this past weekend, and how awesome is it to have a cheerleader to check-in with.
If you haven’t started the challenge yet, it’s not too late! There are still over 80 days left in the year. Drop a comment below if you decide to participate, I’d love to encourage you!
